Dear Friends

Jerry Dale Driesens went to be with the Lord today, October 26, 2010. He died at peace after a long fight with cancer in the log house he built with his wife at his side. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but he will continue to survive in the adventures and stories we all remember. His faith remained strong until the end and he did not waver in his trust in God’s timing.

Your love and prayers have been an amazing support to Jerry and our family over the years.  All of your friendships are a testimony to Jerry’s wonderful life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30th at 3pm at Centerpoint Church in Pagosa Springs.  Centerpoint Church is at 2750 Cornerstone Drive.

The Holiday Inn/Hillside Inn (970 731 5101) has a group rate for out of town family and friends for $55.00/night.  Tell them it is for the Driesens Memorial when you call to reserve.

  4. October 26, 2010 is a GREAT day to be with the Lord…and so we’re happily picturing Jerry in heaven! We love you, dear Joanie. Remember- “We have NOT stopped praying for you” and your family.

  5. We’ll miss you, Jerry, but we have oh, so many wonderful memories of good times with you and your family! What a faithful servant of the Lord you have been, and a great example to your friends. We love you and look forward to seeing our “forever friend” in our “forever home” someday!

  6. I seriously cannot remember life without the Driesens family in it and Jerry there. Your family has been so close to us. You were there when we lost Sherri and we are here for you in this time. Our love and prayers are with you but we know that in all things we are more than conqueors through Christ.

  7. Joanie, our thoughts and prayers go out to you, your girls, and all of your extended family. Indeed, Jerry will be sorely missed by all of us, but thankfully, even now, he’s standing in the presence of the Lord. Our prayers for each of you continue.

  8. Jerry was one of the most beautiful spirits I’ve ever met in this world. His heart was as big as the universe. And yes, Linda and George, we all have such wonderful memories of our times with Jerry.

  9. We are so happy that our dear friend and mentor has been able to go home, to continue his eternal life of serving his Savior.
Jerry was and is an inspiration and a blessing in our lives.
Joanie, you and your family are a wonderful example of how to deal with most difficult circumstances. Our love and prayers are with you.

  10. My heart aches. Forty years ago Jerry through his genuine friendship and faithful testimony led me to Christ. I indeed will be one standing in a long line in heaven waiting my turn to say to Jerry “Thank you for giving to the Lord, I am a life that was changed”.

  11. Joanie our thoughts and prayers for you, your girls, and your entire extended family continue. Jerry will be sorely missed by all who have known him, but what a comfort it is to know that at this very moment he’s in the presence of the Lord….his suffering is now over. May God’s love and grace surround each of you in the days that follow.

  12. Joanie,

I will keep your family in my prayers. I have many happy memories of Jerry in hig school and I will miss his wonderful reflections on this site.

Hopefully he will be one of those who will be present on the day that ismy turn.

  13. So many stories to tell around the campfire…I’ll never forget my amigo and what he’s meant to me and my family.
I have said it before but I have to say it again, he embodies the Scripture verse we find in Ephesians, 1:20-21:
” I eagerly expect and hope that I will no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life and or by death.
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
I’ll miss you deeply in so many ways my dear brother.

  14. Larry called last night to tell us about Jerry going to be with Our Lord. Though we knew this was coming, it saddened us. True, we will continue to remember him and be inspired by his faith and the way he lived so energetically and joyfully.

  15. I’ve known Jerry and Joanie since the late 70′s. First met them at Community Bible Church which Jerry helped start up. Jerry always had a very strong faith in Christ. I worked with him when we were selling real estate at Eaton’s “Pagosa in Colorado”. I did business with him and called upon him for his help from time to time and listened to many of his great stories. Jerry was indeed a very unique soul and had a very rich and active life. Now he has graduated and gone on to an even greater adventure. One that we shall soon join in on too. To wander the streets of heaven, to explore the universe with Jesus and the angels, and to see God – this is the most wonderful of all adventures. See you soon Jerry.

  16. To Jerry my brother in the Lord, business and life mentor. Thank you for your many examples while you were on earth. Primarily your attitude toward your Saviour, family and friends that did not waiver in your last days! Your’s is a life that I truly want to emulate while I am hear on earth.

Joanie, please never hesitate to call on us. We love you.
    Chris, Rachel, Sierra and Cedar

  17. Somehow I can picture..when our hearts deeply grieve the loss of a loved one, I see the Lord with one arm wrapped snuggly around His child who enters heaven, tears of JOY & welcome streaming down his face — the other arm is wrapped snuggly around those who are still here, and His tears mingle with our own and we know He understands the hole in our hearts. I don’t know how He does that…but He does. Our lives are richer because of knowing you Jerry Driesens. We love you and your sweet family.

  18. We love you, Jerry.
West, Mellane, Katriel, Evan & Avianna.

  19. I’m so grateful that I am blessed to have known Jerry….he was such an inspiration in many areas of my life! He was my son’s coach in high school and now they are together again! Bubba loved him! I’ll never ever forget some 4yrs ago I had just started working at the Association of Realtors and here comes Jerry backs is truck up to the door, pulls out a “park bench” and hauls it into the office…..he had a lockbox on the bench that he couldn’t get off!!!!! I still laugh to this day! Love you Jerry and I’ll miss you very much! Paula Dorame

  20. Joan, my condolences to you and your family. Jerry was an amazing person. Here’s to a life well lived and a world made better because of him.
